Top 5 Podcasts of 2016

2016 has been the year of podcasts for me. Whether I'm in the car, working out or just chilling in the tub, I've been choosing podcasts over music more and more. I love reading and listening to music but it's nice to have another option and it's kind of the best of both worlds. So, I've decided to share my current top five podcasts of the year so far.

Global Pillage is a comedy panel show with a difference - all of the contestants are diverse and the topics are all about the human race; idioms, cultures, customs and norms. The show is hosted by the fabulously funny Deborah Frances-White (also co-host of The Guilty Feminist) and it's a great all rounder for fans of culture and comedy.

Already a blogger book favourite, Girlboss Radio is the brainchild of Sophia Amoruso, Nasty Gal founder and all round bad ass. Each episode, Sophia interviews world class girlbosses who are making their mark on the world, gaining advice and lessons learnt along the way. An inspirational podcast for everyone!

Real crime has always interested me and when I heard the tag line "if you haven't heard this story, ask yourself, why?" I knew I had to give it a listen. The Daniel Morgan Murder is a true story which has been described as "one of the most disgraceful episodes in the entire history of the Metropolitan Police Service" this week by  week podcast is truly gripping and brilliantly told.

Probably my all time favourite podcast - The Guilty Feminist is a comedy podcast hosted by Sofie Hagen and Deborah Frances-White and recorded weekly in front of a live audience. Each week they discuss topics "all 21 first century feminists agree on" while confessing their insecurities and hypocrisies. If you have ever felt like you should be a better feminist, then put aside the guilt and listen to this podcast stat!

Lena Dunham is my girl. Anything this women creates is genius and this podcast is no different. Women of the hour sees Lena discussing friendship, love, work, sex and body image with a variety of guests on a weekly basis. There are no current episodes but you can still catch up on the first series. A must for all Lena fans.

I should add that all of these podcasts are absolutely free to subscribe to via the Podcasts App on your phone. So there we have it, do you have any favourites? Do give me your recommendations as I'm always looking for new things to listen to.
