Top 5 | Budget Yoga Surf Retreats

I've always been interested in the idea that Yoga and Surfing go hand in hand. Bringing them together creates a well-balanced, clear and healthy outlook to life and is without doubt a fun way to get active. I'm by no means a surfing pro; I'm very much a beginner but I do enjoy Yoga and I've always wanted to learn to master the swell.

When I first read about these kind of retreats, I automatically assumed that they would be completely out of my price range but after doing some research, I think I've found some really great budget options. All of these retreats are open to all levels of experience - whether you're a beginner or advanced; there is a package available to suit everyone.

1. SURF STAR MOROCCO - 5 days from £331, Agadir, Morocco

If you're looking for a non-traditional Yoga Surf getaway with a relaxed vibe - Surf Star Morocco might be the one for you. This retreat encourages guests to do what they like to do on vacation. With a combination of incredible weather, amazing surf camp accommodation and delicious meals, you’re in for an amazing surf yoga experience with plenty of free time to explore Morocco.

2.  OCEANYOGA - 8 days from £294, Fuerteventura, Spain

Another relaxed option and a great one for beginners: Oceanyoga creates a surf holiday to fit around you and your schedule. Yoga classes are built around the surf so that optimal conditions for surfing can be achieved everyday. This retreat offers a playful and spontaneous week with enough free time just for yourself.

3. WAVESENSATIONS - 7 days from £344, Sagres Portugal

This program is perfect for those who are more energetic and don't mind waking up early. It's targeted at people who want to take on a full course in order to achieve maximum results with your training; whether on the beach or on the yoga mat. In your free time you can bike around the sea, explore the town of Sagres or just soak up some rays on the beach.

4. SURF LOCKER CHILE - 3 days from £325, Pichilemu & Puertocillo, Chile

This adventurous retreat intends to rejuvenate and empower the mind, body and spirit through surfing and yoga. Surf Locker has moved away from the crowded surf spots and tropical beaches and instead offers one of Chile's best kept secrets - a stunning 4000 km coast line, a 6 foot wave average, and one of the highest swell consistencies in the world, making Chile one of the best surf destinations for 2015.

5. FLORIPA SURF HOUSE - 8 days from £334, Sicily, Italy

If you like a little variety when it comes to water sports - Florpia Surf House have got you covered. Everyday you will have the chance to practice yoga, surfing, kite surfing and paddleboarding depending on the wind conditions. As well as all of the activities available, you can learn about the history of the island and head out on a sightseeing trip to see some of the world heritage sites scattered around the area.

Have you been on a yoga/surf retreat? How was the experience for you?
