Global Kids Fashion Week

Last week something vair vair cool was annouced. The founder of Kids Company Charity Camilla Batmanghelidjh, and Alex Theophanous who co-founded AlexandAlexa.com annouced the first ever Global Kids' Fashion Week which is set to take place in March 2013.

If you haven't heard of either companies I will bring you up to speed. AlexandAlexa is a global style desitination for kids. It offers a huge selection of premium brands including Missoni, Fendi, Stella McCartney and Burberry to name a few. The charity Kids Company is a cause which provides practical, emotional and educational support to vulnerable inner-city children in London.

So what's it all about your asking yourselves? Well the aim of GKFW is to cast a spotlight on premium kids' fashion, from both established designers as well as emerging names and also to educate and inspire people to get involved with kids' fashion and to just make a bigger deal out of it!

There will be two main shows - an exclusive media event showcasing the latest AW13 trends from the worlds leading labels and a second show which will be open to the public (yay!) and will showcase the current seasons (SS13) looks from AlexandAlexa's brand portfolio. All of the proceeds from the public show will go to the aforementioned charity Kids Company. There will also be a range of fun activies for children and parents including workshops from the V&A Museum of Childhood and a performance from the London Children's Ballet.

Good news for my fellow bloggers - there will be a stylish bloggers lounge open throughout the event with access to rails of feautured samples. There will also be equipment for you to use whereby you can style up your own looks and then blog/tweet/instagram them directly from the event.

I know some people won't see the point in this and feel that childrens' fashion is a waste of money but as a massive follower/attendee of London Fashion Week I personally feel that it's great that kids' fashion is finally getting it's own platform. Although I don't have any children myself (I practically still am one in my eyes) I will still be attending this exciting event. I'd be really interested to know what you all think about this, so make sure you write down below with your thoughts!
